Step 1: Consultation

40 minutes

At Newman Chiropractic, your first visit is designed to give us a complete understanding of your health. We take the time to thoroughly assess your condition so we can tailor a treatment plan that aligns with your individual needs and goals.

What to Expect:

✅ Health History
We’ll begin by discussing your medical background, including previous injuries, surgeries, ongoing conditions, and family health history. We’ll also explore your lifestyle habits such as work posture, physical activity, and stress levels — all of which can influence your musculoskeletal health.

✅ Physical Examination
Your chiropractor will carry out a thorough assessment to understand the root cause of your symptoms. This may include:

  • Postural analysis – To identify imbalances or misalignments

  • Flexibility & strength testing – To evaluate how your muscles and joints are functioning

  • Neurological tests – Checking reflexes, sensation, and coordination

  • Orthopaedic testing – Identifying joint or soft tissue issues that could be causing pain or dysfunction

✅ Imaging (If Needed)
If clinically indicated, we’ll refer you for diagnostic imaging, such as:

  • X-rays – Performed locally to examine bone and spinal alignment

  • MRI or CT scans – If deeper soft tissue or nerve detail is required, a referral will be provided

Step 2: Diagnosis

30 minutes

Your second visit is an important step in your recovery. During this appointment, we’ll present your Report of Findings and begin treatment if you choose to proceed.

What to Expect:

✅ Report of Findings
Your chiropractor will explain:

  • What’s causing your symptoms

  • Your treatment options

  • How chiropractic care can help

  • Self-care strategies (e.g. posture, exercises, lifestyle)

  • An estimated recovery timeline

✅ Personalised Care Plan
For more complex cases, we’ll outline:

  • Recommended number of sessions

  • Expected outcomes

  • Treatment costs

✅ Your First Treatment
If you're ready to begin care, your first treatment will take place during this visit.

We recommend bringing a family member or carer to help you absorb the information and feel supported.

✅ Written Diagnosis and Treatment Plan Summary

We understand that absorbing all this new information can be difficult. Therefore, we make it easy for you to follow with take home information that you can reflect on.

Step 3: Ongoing treatments

25 minutes

What to Expect:

During each appointment, these techniques are applied as standard. Additionally, each visit allows for progress to be monitored and any new concerns that arise to be addressed. This allows for adjustments to the treatment plan as needed. Consistent education for patients is given on how to manage their condition through lifestyle and dietary changes. This holistic approach not only addresses immediate symptoms but also contributes to long-term health and wellness.

✅ Spinal/Joint Adjustment:
This involves the chiropractor using controlled force to realign joints and vertebrae to their proper positions. Adjustments can help reduce pain, improve mobility, and enhance nerve function.

✅ Spinal/Joint Mobilisation:
Less forceful than adjustments, mobilisation involves the slow movement and stretching of muscles and joints. It aims to increase the range of motion within those areas and is often used for patients who require a gentler approach.

✅ Muscle/Soft Tissue Massage:
This technique focuses on releasing tension in the muscles, improving blood flow, and reducing muscle stiffness, which can enhance overall mobility and relieve pain.

✅ Acupuncture/Dry Needling:
Used to treat pain and muscle tightness, dry needling involves inserting thin needles into specific points on the body. This can stimulate the nervous system and promote healing by increasing blood flow and triggering the release of natural painkillers.

✅ Exercise Rehabilitation:
Tailored exercise programs are designed to strengthen muscles, improve flexibility, and increase stability. These exercises help patients recover from injuries and can also prevent future injuries by addressing physical imbalances.

✅ Stretching and Strength Training:
These exercises are crucial for maintaining the flexibility and strength of muscles, which supports proper joint function and reduces the risk of injuries.

✅ Ergonomic Awareness Training:
Patients are educated on how to arrange their work and living environments to support good posture and minimize strain. This training can significantly reduce the recurrence of musculoskeletal issues.

✅ Nutritional Advice and Tracking:
Proper nutrition supports overall health and can specifically impact conditions related to inflammation and tissue repair. Chiropractors may provide dietary recommendations to help manage health conditions and promote wellness.
