Dr. Rhys Newman D.C MChiro

Doctor of Chiropractic

Chiropractic care has been a cornerstone of my well-being since my early teens. After enduring numerous injuries from contact sports, hours spent sitting at a desk, and a complete lack of understanding about spinal health, I found myself searching for a more holistic and natural approach to care. I had always been interested in studying traditional medicine, but I soon realised that our healthcare system often focuses more on managing symptoms than on preventing disease.

Chiropractic not only improved my health in the present but also set me on a path to optimise my future well-being through lifestyle changes and preventative care. This realisation solidified my passion for alternative, natural medicine. Without hesitation, I knew I wanted to pursue chiropractic and help others experience the same healing and preventative benefits that I had.

As chiropractors, we undergo five years of intensive study to develop a comprehensive understanding of the body in both health and disease. This rigorous training empowers us to formulate accurate diagnoses through thorough history-taking, physical examinations, and relevant imaging or scans.

I graduated with First Class Honors from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic, earning a Master's in Chiropractic (MChiro) degree.

My degree studied the following topics:

  • Anatomy

  • Physiology

  • Neurology

  • Pathology

  • Pharmacology

  • Psychology

  • Exercise Rehabilitation

  • Spinal & Extraspinal Manipulation

  • Soft Tissue Mobilisations

  • Ultrasound and  Shockwave Therapy

  • General Medicine

  • Nutrition

  • X-Ray Imaging

  • X-Ray Diagnosis

  • Diagnostic Imaging

  • Clinical Research

Upon completing my degree, I’ve continually expanded my expertise by attending specialised seminars in medical acupuncture (dry needling), the Gonstead technique, functional neurology, and the Thompson technique. These advanced trainings have deepened my understanding of the body’s complexities and refined my ability to offer the most effective, cutting-edge care to my patients.

What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a patient-centred approach to health, focusing on the musculoskeletal (MSK) and nervous systems to enhance overall wellness and quality of life. It is a hands-on, non-invasive discipline that helps relieve pain, improve mobility, and support long-term health.

As primary care practitioners, chiropractors assess, diagnose, and manage a range of MSK conditions, particularly those affecting the spine and nervous system. Using targeted adjustments, they restore alignment, alleviate discomfort, and improve joint and muscle function.

At your first visit, a chiropractor will conduct a thorough assessment of your health, medical history, and lifestyle to determine the best course of care. They work within their scope of practice, referring patients to other healthcare professionals if needed.

Chiropractic care goes beyond symptom relief—it takes a holistic view of health. Alongside manual treatments, chiropractors provide guidance on posture, movement, and lifestyle to help prevent MSK issues. Common reasons patients seek chiropractic care include:

  • Pain Relief – Effective for back pain, neck pain, joint discomfort, and headaches.

  • Improved Mobility – Enhances flexibility, movement, and overall physical function.

  • Holistic Health – Addresses underlying causes, not just symptoms, for long-term well-being.

  • Non-Invasive Care – A natural alternative to medication and surgery.

Proactive spinal health is essential for overall wellness. Poor posture, inactivity, and prolonged sitting contribute to MSK issues, but with the right care and guidance, these problems can be managed—or even prevented. Chiropractors play a key role in early detection and treatment, helping patients maintain lifelong health and mobility.
